What is a club night?
Club nights (or sweep nights as they are known), are nights when the club gets together and, for a small fee, names are put into a hat and drawn at random. Usually teams consist of pairs. We play 9 ends of bowls, work out the scoring using a method devised by Einstein himself and the winning pair walk away with enough money to buy themselves a fish supper (Dependant on entries).
Due to the scoring method, everyone has a chance of winning, club events are non formal and you can generally wear what you want (Excluding high heels and mankinis). What we do ask is that you purchase a set of bowls shoes at the earliest opportunity to protect the grass.
Hone your skills and enjoy yourself, practice in a semi-competitive environment, club nights are a great way to unwind and socialise, the benefits to physical and mental health are well proven.

Can i spectate?
Of course you can, come along and watch for your sheer enjoyment.
I CAN't play can i help out?
Well firstly, anyone can play. But if you decide you don't want to, we would always love folk to assist, especially when there are competitions. Spectating is free and relaxing, you will be made to feel welcome.
What kit do i need?
Well its Scotland, prepare for Scottish weather, whether you are playing or spectating. As mentioned, flat sole trainers will see you by in your early days but we would expect you as a member to make bowling shoes your first purchase.
Bowls dont need to be expensive and a set from 1970 will see you fine at club level, ask for advice on size, there are some club bowls available to try.
