Frequently asked questions
isnt bowls just for pensioners?
Bowls is for everyone, young and old. Youth bowls is enjoyed world wide and is great for building confidence and keeping active.
I'm not very mobile, can i play?
Yes we will find a way for you to get the best out of yourself. There are aids to save you from bending and we go at your pace. We aim to make the game as inclusive as possible.
Are bowls expensive?
Yes and No. New bowls are quite expensive but 20 year old bowls perform just as well as 1 year old bowls in the correct hands and some great deals can be found. (Ask for assistance)
I'm new, will i not just be turning up to be beaten every night?
Not one bit. There are various scoring and handicap systems in place, sweep nights are like the pairs grand national (anyone can win). Bowls is one of the few games where olympians and complete beginners can end up playing together. Take some inexpensive beginners courses with the club, get the best head start.
